AMISH DIAMOND IN A SQUARE ANTIQUE QUILT
So called 'floating' because of the absence of corner blocks, this is a minimalist artistic composition that holds its own against contemporary color field paintings. Inspired by the look of the cover of the 'ordnung' religious tome the Amish live by, done in a mid century mix of fabrics that have intense coloration. Combines the Amish love of rich color from clothing - lavender, deep red, and forest green. Classic Amish quilting. Lancaster PA origin 1940s-50s.
