Each stair riser of this wonderful and uncommon long rug has a folky image--a horse, girl with farm animals, farm buildings, flowers in full bloom This rug pattern came from the Burnham Company. Essex Massachusetts on special order. (Burnham was the advisor to H.F. duPont as he collected hooked rugs for Winterthur) This runner can be used for a staircase or in a hall. Has some repairs throughout that do not detract from the visuals and that have strengthened the rug. Rarely seen example of the output of one of New England's premier businesses that created hooked rugs for the developing collector market in the early 20th c.
