Unique to my experience handling antique hooked rugs, this is a striking image from the late 19th century when Americans were being introduced to the exotica of the world. The striped jungle cat, possibly a tiger, reclines on a tree limb and is presented full face forward to compel our attention. Myriad neutral colors in the cat and landscape. Brilliant red and Persian blue punctuate the rug across the top.Well done restoration. An exciting discovery
