| More like modern art than a quilt, this astonishing composition is truly three dimensional. made in five panels of folded triangles. The triangles were layered one row atop the preceding one until the desired size was achieved. This format is seen usually in small square pillow faces or mats; that this quilter made an extra large bed cover instead is remarkable. The subtly beautiful palette results from the myriad of feedsack cottons, mostly in blues and rose, from the Depression era. The folded triangles are sewn to a sacking foundartion. Heavy weight because each piece is twice the amount of fabric used in a pieced quilt. Maker unknown, said to be African American, found in Texas.
