| This contemporary quilt contains 5,900 + pieces as indicated in a tag on the back by the woman who made it to copy a venerable 19th century sampler quilt. Intricate and time consuming to compose. While one might not want to put on a bed an original 19th century sampler quilt of this complexity and majesty, this contemporary composition can better serve that purpose. Many contemporary quiltmakers faithfully reproduce early quilts they love in order to be able to have the image and look for their home without fear of damaging a valuable original.
