HAWAIIAN APPLIQUE ANTIQUE QUILT, peach
| A distinctive form of applique quilt for which Hawaii is known. This one is quite a bit older than others that have been found. The peach color cotton is folded in four and cut out in a foliate design that is symmetrical, then sewn to a solid color background. 'Echo' quilting follows the cut contours of the applique, another distinction of Hawaiian quilts. There is substantial stitchery on the actual motif as well. In 'as found' condition, no longer crisp, but can be professionally laundered if buyer prefers.
