Rare and historic is this early 19th (perhaps even late 18th century) block print textile made into a generously sized quilt called a 'boutis' in France where it originated. The color is just beautiful---a different, diffused softer red printed on an ivory background. Incredibly rare find in simply wonderful condition that is astonishing for its age. The fabric was so special; you can see from the piecing how it was conserved to make a generously sized quilt.
