Ithaca, NY was the location of Arch. Davidson's carpet manufacturing company. Leaping deer, eagles, flora and fauna gambol across the coverlet surface patterned in a distinctive 'ribbed' weave more like a Biederwand type, not a double cloth woven coverlet. I think this weaving technique was a short term experiment among some New York State weavers. More are traditional doublecloth in indigo and white. Davidson's work is often published, scarce and collectible.
