| Fascinating isn't it,. how hundred-year-old quilts can look like modern paintings, in this case the graphic optical paintings of Victor Vasarely popular in the 1960s-70s. All the squares measure about 1 1/2". Nine groups of squares are set on point and framed with red, alternating with groups pieced of navy and taupe/gray. A pieced border frames the symmetrical composition and a red edging of pinked scallops completes it. Probably Mennonite or even Amish, found in Wisconsin but could have come travelled there with emigrants from the northeast.
