The first trans-Atlantic flight of Charles Lindberg inspired this pieced pattern which was published around the time it occurred. Though appreciation for his feat was intense and widespread, surprisingly not so many airplane quilts have surfaced An orange grid frames airplanes in a variety of deep pastel colors on a creamy ground (poor photo, sorry). Machine quilting outlines the airplanes and sashing. (Color in first photo too sharp, too dull in second) This quilt's palette is bold with interesting colors of the era and a caramel sashing. Excellent condition.
