Think of spring and your favorite coat from decades ago, and some fabric like it is probably in this unusual quilt. Perhaps the maker had access to the cuttings from a ladies suit or coat factory or a tailor shop to acquire so many colors. Fresh and lighthearted, so different from the traditional grey we see in menswear wool suiting quilts. Arrayed in an infrequently seen stepped pattern for the center, and with some Hourglass pieced blocks as well. Look closely to see the initials embroidered on some of the squares.
