Tour-de-force graphic design for silk cigar ribbons. A rare larger size (they are most often 20" squares for pillows). Contains mostly one brand of cigar ribbons - Hollards - the effect of which increases the dramatic impact. Black embroidery emphasizes the graphics of the running wording in the narrow strips, as does the repeat lettering. Jaunty black ruffle border contains it all. Exhibited in 'TEXT ON TEXTILES: WORDS AS DESIGN IN ANTIQUE QUILTS" October 2009, Houston Quilt Festival; featured in an article on this special type of quilt published Architectural Digest.
