Classic in every way. A well loved pattern in a well loved palette. Indigo and white together are one of the premier collectible looks when someone thinks of quilts. Here the indigo is a small scale print alternating with superbly wreath-quilted white squares. During the late 19th century, quilts in indigo prints with white were a nationally popular form, probably owing to the colorfastness of the indigo prints that ensured the fabric colors would remain stable when laundered. Also, the colorways is said to be the symbol of the anti drinking movement that was developing across the country.
