PATRIOTIC AUNT ELIZA'S STAR ANTIQUE QUILT

PATRIOTIC AUNT ELIZA'S STAR ANTIQUE QUILT

The starburst is an infrequently-seen pieced star formation -- rather than small diamonds united, this one is constructed of narrow rectangular strips arranged as if outlines of color. Evemn greater visual dynamism is expressed by the diagonal strips in the corners.A similar graphic appeared decades later in the 1980s star paintings of artist Sol LeWitt that portray a similarly outlined star. The color choices here of red white and blue suggest this was made to commemorate a patriotic event, but no history came with the piece. A fantastic graphic design for any day of the year. The is a poor photograph hastily done. The quilt is mounted on a stretcher and framed in a lucite box, but the box was cracked in the corners during transport, so we will remove it if the client prefers.
