RAHWAY, NEW JERSEY CIVIL WAR ALBUM SAMPLER ANTIQUE QUILT
| Dated 1864, a rare quilt made to express sentiments concerning the Civil War.| Signed with various names in most of the blocks, including the Reverend Young and others, RAHWAY NEW JERSEY. Includes pieced flags of several countries and interesting and unusual pieced quilt squares. Note the Civil War sentiment "'United We Stand.". Blocks are set on point in a sashing of apricot color in a tiny print. One minor repair. Sadly, the brown print backing shows some deterioration at the corners that does not affect appearance or useability of the front if hung for display. Now undergoing geneological research at the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts. To be featured in the forthcoming book on Civil War quilts and related museum exhinition.
