LAYERED FLOWERS IN A TINY POT APPLIQUE, vine border
| Charming and unusual example of a late 19th century 'best' or 'show' quilt. Dense ruched round red flowers emerge in groups of three from a tiny pot, adding to its folk art allure and giving it a three-dimensional texture that is rare among this era quilt. Blocks are set on point all facing the same direction so they provide dynamic visual interest and allow for it to be hung on the wall easily, either as a square, or on point with the flowers standing upright.. Serpentine vine border barely contains all the visual interest within. Probably Berks County Pennsylvania
