These pen and ink drawings are part of a series signed John R. Byng. They are this artist's depiction of an imaginary American town in the early twentieth century. One celebrates the Fourth of July. A couple in the foreground reads the posted "day of events" a parade fills the streets, American flags adorn poles and windows, and a train blows smoke as it rounds the bend.
