PLUSHWORK STARS ON SUITING SQUARES ANTIQUE QUILT

Sku:10705

If you saw the film "Julie and Julia" about chef Julia Child, a stylistic mate to this quilt covered the back of young Julie's living room sofa. "Plushwork" embroidered and tufted three-dimensional stars are sewn through each suiting wool square. The corners are grey flannel for emphasis as a nice framework to the charcoal and black interior squares.. A category of quiltmaking and handicraft just now undergoing exploration and collection. Similarly constructed examples appeared in MASTER PIECES: HABERDASHERY TEXTILES IN ANTIQUE QUILTS at the New England Quilt Museum| 2009. Excellent untouched condition and in magazine article in QUILTMANIA (France)
