An extraordinary accomplishment in a quilt is this two sided reversible Centennial commemorative rarity. One side features the flags of the nations that exhibited at the Exhibition in Philadephia in 1876, copying in hand piecing the chromolithographed kerchief with the same graphic information that was sold as a souvenir of the exhibition there in Fairmount Park. The reverse side is made with uncut yardage of the centennial kerchief depicting General George Washington standing next to his horse, in front of a patriotic shield. This yardage would have been cut into individual kerchiefs and is uncommon to find in such volume; it is a rare discovery to find it in its uncut form as if used right from the fabric bolt Each country flag is labelled beneath its accurate rendition.
