The border alone is worth the price of admission, repeating generous filled baskets and a double swag with pendant tassels around all four sides of this monumental whitework early quilt. Wonderful center medallion with an urn-like form surrounded by a sinuous feathery vine to emphasize just one of the various focal points in this best of kind, remarkable composition. The field has plenty of stuffed work patterning to recommend close examination as well.
Photographed outdoors to take advantage of the sun shining from behind to reveal the trapunto designs throughout. Sorry for the amateur quality of the task, but we wanted to get images posted before sending this to a photo studio for proper photography
It has been on display in an exhibition of American Folk Art in the American Embassy in Canberra Australia as part of the"Art in Embassies" government loan program.
Please ask about other whitework trapunto quilts we have now in inventory. Hard to photo, each so different in graphics, and in great condition, nearly 200 years old. Photos on request
