A "best of kind" variation in terms of both pattern construction and coloration. By fine tuning the traditional blocks rotation that would have produced broad diagonal bands of light and dark tones, this construction engendered a more visually complex variation. The diagonal stripes in the border (called 'piano key') were doubled to create chevrons, another artistic choice that adds value. Lots of red, camel and ivory in the palette enliven this exceptional example.
