LOG CABIN BARN RAISING ANTIQUE QUILT camel and black

Striking minimalist composition in fine early wools contrasting solid camel and black. Accented with tiny red squares at the heart of each pieced block that seem to twinkle across the quilt surface. An interesting discovery both for its clear graphic colorways that read so contemporary in mood though the quilt was made more than 100 years ago. Also intriguing is the fact that it is machine quilted, a still uncommon treatment for that era though commonplace today. On view in the Saddle River NJ benefit show house April 2012
