Tiny now-pale pieced stars fill the interior of the counterpane quilt intended for a doll's bed. I believe the ruffled white border is a later addition| but the small scale center was always intended as a doll's quilt; perhaps a subsequent owner had a four poster doll's bed. Weathered reds and 'double pinks' are period mid-19th century prints.
