AMISH SINGLE IRISH CHAIN, STEPPED DIAMONDS ANTIQUE QUILT

Simple color scheme yet quite complex patterning. The nine-patch and four-patch elements combine to create a stepped diamond element within a diamond grid, all pieced of squares. The charcoal grey chambray cotton has tonal variations that appear as an intriguing 'abrage' or weathered look, though the quilt is hardly used. The wide bright 'sea island blue' border is cable or rope quilted and enlivens the more conservative geometry of the pieced interior. See border closeup for the narrow binding that frames the entire quilt (not seen in largest photo)
