A remarkable composition made from labels imprinted with the names of many haberdashery stores and menswear manufacturers, the companies located in several different states. We can provide a list of all the names prior to purchasing. When hanging on the wall and properly lit, an amazing thing occurs so that the Log Cabin Light and Dark format appears as both silvery and golden. I think this occurred because of how the different names were grouped, with similar ones together making one overall broad effect through how their lettering captures the light. This discovery astonished and intrigued all who saw it hanging in the haberdashery textiles exhibit. Probably the maker worked for the labels factory or a menswear clothing manufacturer in order to have had access to such a volume of ribbon labels. Antique label quilts are extremely rare, and this accomplished graphic example is rarer still. Exhibited in MASTER PIECES: Antique Textiles in Haberdashery Quilts.
