The multitude of blue prints in the diamond lattice of the Ocean Waves pattern, and the scalloped border all around, make this a best of kind example of a traditional pattern that has been favored over decades in American quiltmaking. I especially like the continuation of pattern down the diagonals of the grid, in other versions the intersections are sometimes highlighted with solid color pieced triangles. The fuschia pink and mauve additions emphasize the blue ish palette even more. There are countless small triangles in feedsack and clothing prints that comprise the intricate piecing.
