There is a lot going on in this quilt of humble fabrics. Each block has small scale pieces of "homespun" check gingham and shirting stripes. From this intricacy diagonal lines of squares emerge that crisscross the quilt! These are balanced by the larger checks that make up the Broken Dishes pattern in the alternating blocks. In crisp| unwashed condition with penciled quilting lines still visible.
