Pink flowers and sage green leaves stand out dramatically because they are appliqued to a rich| black background. This is a really uncommon treatment of a floral applique|inspired probably by the Art Deco design movement popular then. This one is full of applique| and accented further with a swag and bow scalloped border; it has a lot more oomph than the pastel florals on white ground traditional at that time.
