Beautiful Victorian/Edwardian women in either formal or sports attire alternate in this unique "quilt". These are larger than usual rectangular pieces most likely used as premiums for cigarette purchases. The name of the printing company is visible at the base of some of the portraits| but it is unknown what artist of the period - perhaps Howard Chandler Christy? - painted the originals from which these were printed. The rectangles are sewn over each seam with black embroidery in the traditional briar stitch used in crazy quilts of the era.
