Beautifully rendered articulated figure of a black woman in Civil War era calico clothing. Photos do not do justice to the face and details. Articulated arms have elegant long fingered wooden hands; carefully carved feet. Body is padded beneath period clothing--blouse, skirt, petticoat, head kerchief. Lots of detail thanks to the use of a button-jar full of multicolored plastic and mother of pearl buttons from the early-to-mid-20th century. Foundation is a heavy tin covered board.
