The stencilled (painted) blocks alternate and repeat in the center, while a different motif is used for the framework. There are groupings of roses and leaves. Decorative vines alternate with roses that have peach petals and yellow pollen centers. This hard-to-find, very early 19th century American bedcover is unusual because it is QUILTED in addition to beng stencilled; stencilled spreads were typically one layer.
