  • early 20th Century
  • Excellent condition
  • $ 2,500.00

WS 40015

A rare find! This UNUSUAL piece, made by the famed blanket manufacturer, was probably intended for use as a rug because of its dense weaving and weight. It is not reversible like the Oregon City blankets (the pattern is strong on one side and pale, masked by the weaving threads on the reverse). The manufacturer's label is on the reverse. The brick red, dark brown and neutral taupe and cream, and the pattern, echo true Navajo weavings. Perhaps this was the manufacturer's experiment to see if these could be made to compete with hand-woven rugs.
