Intriguing graphic combines solid 'bricks'with dark rectangular outlines, with sizzlingly patterned bricks arranged in stepped diagonal rows. Not only is there a defined line border around the hooked portion, there is also a wide braided border encompassing all the pattern for an extra dimension of artistic composition. Said to have been a prize winner at a New Hampshire state fair, this is a skillfully hand braided rug with a lot of thought given to its composition, in terms of the scale of the braids and the way color is treated. YOU ARE SEEING THE RUG FOLDED IN HALF LENGTH WISE--HALLWAY TOO NARROW! Amazing work -- narrow gauge unbelievably durable marine rope was first crocheted, then those lengths braided into a room size marvel. A nice touch is the scalloped crochet edge in charcoal framing the whole rug. All the ovals are "outlined" to add a dynamic quality that emphasizes the technique.

RUG IS SHOWN FOLDED IN HALF; HALLWAY NOT WIDE ENOUGH! Beautiful palette of wools in narrow strips create an overall radiant effect. WS 20120

A special find--tweedy wool yarns masterfully knit into a large rug. Precise handiwork, subtle thoughtful composition, having the optical illusion of narrow and wider stripes depending on the color. Tweedy yarn gives an allover liveliness to the conservative palette of mostly charcoal and cordovan. Finished with a slightly scalloped knit border. I have never seen another....Would be great anywhere, on the floor, as a table rug, or mounted on the wall, very stylish and modern looking, though goes back to early part of the 20th c.
