Wow, what an impact when tropical prints are used instead of staid solid colors to piece the classic leaf pattern. Hot colors in mostly verdant prints in teal, aqua, gold, hot pink. Skillfully pieced, a surely one-of-a-kind departure from the staid autumn leaf traditionals. All leaves face in the same direction, easy to look at should you want to hang it

COWBOYS AND HORSES CRIB QUILT

  • 36" x 44"
  • 1950s
  • excellent untouched
  • $ 795.00

WS 10751

Rollicking presentation of the pop culture imagery of the mid-20th century. Chaps-clad roping cowboy and the horse were made both as fabric appliques, and echoed in embroidery. Good composition has the embroidered blocks centering the quilt like a medallion, surrounded by applique figures. This pattern most likely probably published, as I have seen a version of it before, but just alternating horse and cowboy squares. This one thoughtfully differs because of the medallion center framed by full figures.

WS 10747

This House pattern variation was published in HOME SWEET HOME: The House in American Folk Art, because it is infrequently seen compared to other house designs. Distinguishing elements include the earthy color scheme that turns out to be well suited to todays interiors; the piecing, including angled strips for the roof and high horizontal windows, a break with tradition. This conveys a house of larger volume(resembling today's suburban architecture, yet decades older).

WS 10659

The lush imagery of mid-19th century album quilt blocks has been translated with crossstitch into this elegant mid-20th century quilt. A warm mid-green thread is the only color used on the white, so that the complexity of the individual bouquets and urns of flowers can really be studied. On the screen the green looks perhaps too grey and matte, in person it is the second green of leaves emerging in the spring.Superb condition and workwomanship
