Copied from a ptrint source most likely by a schoolgirl in a New England female academy, this theorem is signed and in the original eglomise (reverse painted) galss liner and gilt frame. Signed Frances M. Hart. Aegeria is a Roman Goddess of prophecy invoked by pregnant women. She is of the Camenae -- water spirits who dwell in freshwater springs and rivers. Their name means "foretellers" (info taken from Roman Gods/Goddesses website: www.harmonysenchantedhearth.homestead.com).

This theorem was likely copied from a print source given to schoolgirls by their teacher in a female academy; it depicts a mythological landscape. In a period gilt frame with conservation plexi-glass.p> This unusual and meaningful subject would be the perfect gift for wife, or pregnant friend or family member, as well as a seasoned folk art collector!

  • c. 1940s
  • Oil on canvas
  • Excellent condition,
  • $ 1,200.00

WS 30035

Probably an illustration for a magazine or book, this oil on canvas says "Children's Bazaar Nov. 6." The artist was a skilled realist who enhanced his figures and other elements with dark outlines a la Roualt. While not a folk painting because the artist was a professional illustrator, the subject of the work would reside happily in a folky interior.

This pen and ink drawing is part of a series signed John R. Byng. It is an artist's depiction of an imaginary American town in the early twentieth century celebrating the Fourth of July. A couple in the foreground reads the posted "day of events," a parade fills the streets, American flags adorn poles and windows, and a train blows smoke as it rounds the bend.

We have not yet found information on the artist Byng. Was he a professional, commercial, fine art or folk artist?

This drawing is framed just for display, and will be shipped unframed.
