ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
Welcome to our website, which offers selections from the vast,
diverse, well-edited inventory in our midtown New York City gallery.
We feature antique quilts, hooked
rugs, rag carpet, braided rugs, woven coverlets, Beacon/Pendleton
blankets, paisley shawls, Marseilles bedspreads, ticking and other
home furnishings textiles, along with choice American folk art including
samplers and needlework, gameboards, tramp art frames, lamps, mirrors,
and now, our new line of FISHER HERITAGE
™ HOOKED RUGS, custom-made in larger sizes based on
beloved antique rugs. Our gallery has moved to 305 East 61st Street
in the Hayes Warehouse Building. We are open Monday through Friday
from 9:30 ish to 4:30. No appointment is necessary.
Please use this site as our catalog.
Keep checking back for regular additions. We try to find pieces
that are either “best of kind”, classics with a twist,
or with special graphic or historic content that sets them apart.
Click the “Catalog” button to see the variety always
in stock.
A picture of the full piece appears first, followed by detail photos
and the back.
For quilts, size is listed width first to help determine
what size bed it might suit..
The condition of most pieces is excellent, and for quilts in many
instances never used. Any exceptions are noted in the descriptions.

ABOUT LAURA FISHER
Author and editor Fisher writes from time to time about collecting
textiles and folk art. HOME SWEET HOME:
The House in American Folk Art (Rizzoli, 2001) examines architectural
images in antique quilts, hooked rugs, needlework, paintings, furniture
and folk art. Her first book QUILTS OF ILLUSION
(Hearst/Sterling Publishing, formerly Main Street Press 1988) discusses
the optical illusion design impact of antique quilt patterns. AMERICA’S
GLORIOUS QUILTS (Harding and Duke, Hugh Lauter Levin, 1989)
surveys quilt history. QUILTS 2004
(Barnes & Noble) features never-before-seen antique examples.
In addition to articles and antiques showcased in design periodicals,
Fisher has been a frequent guest on Martha Stewart Living TV
and other programs such as Collective Intelligence (Dish
Network), Special FX (Fox Network), Treasures In Your
Attic (House and Garden TV). She has lectured at the American
Folk Art Museum, Newark Museum, Cooper Hewitt Museum, New England
Quilt Museum, Nippon Society and elsewhere, sharing her inventory
and knowledge on a variety of collecting themes.
Those interested in learning more about antique quilts can purchase
a video of her appearance at the Appraisers Association of America
from that organization.
Keep checking the news section of this site for announcements of
future appearances, including the Winterthur Museum (Delaware) Quilt
Forum in April 2007.
